Risk factors = cardiovascular disease risk factors

Pathology?
A
Infarction of brain tissue due to occlusion of blood vessels
Usually a build up of many small infarcts

Signs and Symptoms?
A
As A.D. but with the addition of a higher likelihood of other focal neurological signs

A
Diagnosis purely clinical
Excludatory investigations
Infarctions can be seen

Management?
A
No definitive cure
MDT support
Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors = symptomatic, BP control
