Blockage at any point of the CSF circulation or overproduction of CSF Tumour Raised ICP Post meningitis Normal pressure hydrocephalus

A
Build up of CSF in ventricular system which can be obstructive or communicating

Signs and symptoms in infants?
A
Enlarged head Bulging fontanelles Splayed sutures Sunsetting eyes FTT High pitched cry

Signs and symptoms in > 18 months?
A
No enlarged head
Signs of raised ICP

Management?
A
Treat cause of obstruction
Shunts
Endoscopic third ventriculostomy

A potentially treatable cause of dementia
