Vaccinations

A

Drugs- TDaP, Haemophilus B, Hep B & Hep A, Chickenpox, Poliovirus, Meningitis, MMR, Rotavirus
Indication- active immunity for people at risk, it trains your immune system
Contraindications- Life treating reaction to a component in vaccine
Relative - immune def, Pregnancy, person receiving immune globulin, blood transfusion last 3 months
AE - fever chilles, vomiting, rash, pain, welling at injection site
Drug 2 Drug - immunosuppressants

Sera

A

Drug - Antitoxin, Antivenom
Action - provides passive immunity, used to fight specific Dz after exposure
Relative- history of reaction to Sera
Caution - pregnancy, coagulation defects, previous exposure to Sera
AE - rash, Nausea, chills, allergic reaction, local reaction
Drug 2 Drug - Immunosuppressants
