How does localised renal cell carcinoma and transitional cell carcinoma present?
Haematuria or incidental finding on imaging
Name an advanced symptom of RCC
Hypercalaemia, weight loss, pulmonary/tumour embolus, varicocele
Name an advanced symptom of TCC
Weight loss, DVT, lymphodema
Other than cancer, what are some differential diagnoses of haematuria?
Stones, infection, inflammation, BPH
Where can RCC spread to?
Lymph nodes, perinephric or IVC to the right atrium
What is the treatment for localised RCC?
Surveillance, Excison or ablation
What is the treatment for metastatic RCC?
Palliative
What is the initial definitive treatment for bladder TCC?
Resection of the tumour via the urethra (TURBT)
What is the standard treatment of an upper urinary tract TCC?
Nephro-ureterectomy (kidney, fat, ureter and cuff of bladder removed)
What is the treatment for Metastatic TCC?
Systemic chemotherapy or immunotherapy
What are the risk factors for prostate cancer?
Age, Family history, BRCA2 gene mutation and ethnicity
How does prostate cancer present?
Urinary symptoms, bone pain DRE for another reason
What is the treatment for localised prostate cancer?
Surveillance, robotic radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy
What is the treatment for locally advanced prostate cancer?
Hormones and radiotherapy
What is the treatment for metastatic prostate cancer?
Hormones, possible chemotherapy and palliation
