Urinary System Flashcards
where is intermediate mesoderm found?
only found in caudal region
what do intermediate mesoderm differentiate into? and what does this then connect with?
into nephrotome (forms connection with dorsal aorta)
what does the external glomerulus extend into?
the intra-embryonic cavity
what is the glomerulus?
cluster of blood vessels
what does the internal glomerulus associate with?
forms association with nephric tubule
what happens on day 24?
the pronephric= segmented intermediate mesoderm
what happens in the mesospheric duct?
Condensation in mesoderm alongside pronephroi
what happens on day 25?
Mesonephros form= 40 produced, regress around day 39 but leave 20 pairs. Become directory units until week 10 then regress.
Until kidneys are formed where is blood filtered?
Mesonephros
what happens around week 5?
Metanephros form= becomes kidney pepper. Metanephric blastema and cretic bud forms kidney.
what happens on day 28?
uteteric buds sprout from distal mesonephric ducts
what happens on day 32?
ureteric buds penetrate metanephric blastema
when does the function of metanephros begin?
week 9-11
what does the metanephros form form?
ureteric bud and metanephroc blastema
what happens on day 36?
cretic bud receives signal to branch about 4 generations of bifurcations.
what happens on day 50?
coalescing called intussusception.
what is the function of the ureteric bud?
the collecting system
what is a nephron?
the functional unit for the filtration of blood and production of urine
what are the 4 parts to the nephron?
- Bowman’s capsule
- Proximal convoluted tubule
- Loop of henle
- Distal convoluted tubule
what is the first stage of the formation of a nephron?
- Blastimal cap associated with tip receives signals to underground’s transformation to epithelial structure= nephric vesicle
what is the second stage of the formation of a nephron?
- vesicle elongates and becomes s- shaped
what is the third stage of the formation of a nephron?
- vesicle contacts blood vessels (glomerulus) and swells to become bowman capsule.
what is the fourth stage of formation of a nephron?
- At other end vesicle contacts ampulla to form continuous lumen
where is the ascent of the kidney located?
ascend from pelvis to L1
