Reproductive System Flashcards
where does the genital ridge form?
mesonephric tissue
primordial germ cells migrate where?
through the primitive streak into the wall of the yolk sac.
how long does the primordial germ cells migrate for?
until week 4
where do the primordial germ cells migrate back?
into the embryo and associate with dorsal mesentery
when does populate genital ridge develop?
week 6
what happens if the genital ridge doesn’t develop?
if fails gonads will not develop
what do germ cells associate with?
proliferating body epithelium
are the primitive sex cords temporary or permanent in females?
temporary
are the primitive sex cords temporary or permanent in males?
permanent
what is male development driven by?
driven by SRY on Y chromosomes
the medullary cords develop into what?
develop into fine tubules at helium= retes testis
what happens after the medullary cord develops during male development?
cords become more defined and mesonephric tubules become epigenital tubules then ductules
how does the mesonephric duct develop during male development?
develops a muscular coat and becomes vas deferens and looses connection to the blood
what is the gubernaculum is attached to what in relation to female reproduction?
the paramesonephric ducts
where does the the gubernaculum pass through?
passes through inguinal canal and down to wall of scrotum. Pulling testis with it.
