Essentially seems to be little evidence for this, esp. in dogs with thoracolumbar disk disease.

Should neutering be delayed in female dogs to prevent the risk of USMI?

Answer 2

Dogs >25kg at diagnosis had a decreased haxard of USMI development with each month of delayed neutering within the first year. Therefore, it may be beneficial to delay neutering in large breed dogs till after the first year of life.

lso note the median time to USMI development was 3.73 years
