- Industrialisation in nineteenth and twentieth century meant most of HICs urbanisation happened before 1950
- Industry now moves to LICs and NEEs to capitalise on cheaper workforce and lower taxes

- Industrial develpoment increases job oppurtunities and higher wages

What is a squatter settlement?
A
- Unplanned, informal housing with little sanitary facilities, access to clean water or reliable energy
- About 25% of inhabitants in developing countries live in squatter settlements
