What does a general screen include
A
- cognition
- vitals
- bedside assessment
- bed mobilty
- functional mobility
- UQS

When do you use UQS or LQS
A
- no history of trauma
- (+) radicular signs
- trauma with radicular signs
- (+) altered sensation in the limb
- there are spinal cord signs
- the patient presents with abnormal patterns
- there is suspected psychogenic pain

Screening the lower quarter
A
- history from chart or EMR when available
- hx from patient
- observations/inspections (general health/appearance)
- physical examination

What does the UQS/LQS tell you
A
- a rapid assessment of mobility and neurologic function of cervical spine or UE/LE
- spinal joints and peripheral joints
- nerve root or peripheral nerve
- contractile, inert, end feel, capsular pattern

Things to consider with screening
A
- risk factors: age health, nutrition, ethnicity PMH
- reason for referral or exam

Clues to screening, chest, breast or rib pain
A
- hx of repetitive motion, overuse, prolonged activity
- longterm use of steriods assault or trauma
- hx of flu, UTI, shingles, recurrent penumonia, chronic bronchitis, emphysema
- hx breast caner
- hx of heart disease
- prolonged use of cocaine or anabolic steriods
- nocturnal pain, pain without movemetn aggravation or fails to respond to treatmetn
- weight loss
- recent childbirth
