What does the Trapezius do?
elevation (raises), depression (lowers), adduction (out from body), upward rotation….of the shoulder
Where does the Trapezius originate?
at the base of the skull, C7-T12 (large muscle!)
Where does the Trapezius insert?
at the spine of the scapula, the acromion process and the clavicle
What do the Rhomboids do?
elevation, adduction, downward rotation …. of shoulder
Where do the Rhomboids originate?
at vertebra C6-T4
Where do the Rhomboids insert?
at the vertebral border of the scapula (lateral border?)
What does the Levator Scapulae do?
elevation and downward rotation of shoulder
Where does Levator Scapulae originate?
on vertebra C1-C4
Where does Levator Scapulae insert?
on the superior angle of the scapula
What does Serratus Anterior do?
abduction, upward rotation and depression of shoulder
Where does Serratus Anterior originate?
on the upper 8 ribs
Where does Serratus Anterior insert?
on the anterior vertebral border of the scapula (lateral border?)
What does Teres Major do?
medial rotation, adduction and extension of the upper arm
Where does Teres Major originate?
at the inferior angle of the scapula
Where does Teres Major insert?
at the intertubercular groove
What does Latissimus Dorsi do?
medial rotation, adduction and extension of upper arm
Where does Latissimus Dorsi originate?
at ribs 8-12, and at the spinous processes of the lower thoracic and lumbar vertebrae
Where does Latissimus Dorsi insert?
at the intertubercular groove
Where does Pectoralis Major insert?
at the intertubercular groove and the greater tubercle of the humerus
Where does Subscapularis insert?
at the lesser tubercle of the humerus
Where does Infrascapularis insert?
at the greater tubercle of the humerus
Where does Teres Minor insert?
at the greater tubercle of the humorus
Where does Supraspinatus insert?
at the greater tubercle of the humerus
Where does Pectoralis Major originate?
at the clavicle and the sternum
