Sectional Anatomy Flashcards
Dissectional Planes
different ways to dissect a piece of 3D tissue for further study
Body Plane
flat surface along which the body or a structure may be cut for anatomical study
Sections
cuts or sections made along a body plane
Sagittal Plane
divides the body vertically into right and left parts, producing a sagittal section
Midsagittal Plane
separates left and right equally along the midline
Parasagittal Plane
separates left and right unequally
Frontal (Coronal) Plane
divides the body vertically into anterior and posterior parts, producing a frontal or coronal section
Traverse (Horizontal) Plane
divides the body horizontally (90 to vertical) into superior and inferior parts, producing a cross-section
Oblique Plane
separates the tissue at an angle other than 90 degrees to vertical plane
