Q

What time penalties are incurred when using a dog leg?

A

60 deg. cut = The deviation time
45 deg. cut = 1/2 deviation time
30 deg. cut = 1/4 deviation time

Useful avoidance technique if you are early and also need to avoid an area.

E.g. showers ahead, 30 sec early, therefore 45 deg. cut for 1 min to go around and then incur a 30 sec penalty to be back on time.
