What are the TSAT checks, and when should they be carried out?

Timing
Completed after making a turn on your nav route.
When should you consider TEL for your route?
Approx. 1 min before the time of an event, make adjustments (corner cut, turn inside/early, etc, as required).
What is the first T of the TSAT checks?
Time - Note time at next WPT. Consider TEL.
What is S of the TSAT checks?
Steering - Anticipate the heading allowing for any timing corrections (turning inside, outside, etc)
What is A of the TSAT checks?
Check the new route for avoids
What is the last T of the TSAT checks?
Timing - Fly an accurate 240 KIAS (LL) and in line with planned next turn time

What are the SARTL checks and when should they be carried out?
Squawk
Altimeter
Radio
Time
Lights
The low level checks, carried out on entry to LL as 2000ft AGL is approached and you accelerate to 240 KIAS
What is S of the SARTL checks?
Squawk - Ensure on, set 7001 (once cleared for ‘going en-route’ by ATC
TCAS set to ABOVE
What is A of the SARTL checks?
Altimeter - Correct RPS set, RADALT visible in the HUD, LHW set to briefed minima (usually MSD-10%)
What is R of the SARTL checks?
Radio - Low level common frequency set (#26 on Com 1 and 2, 130.490)
Position call if practicable (entering LL at…)
What is T of the SARTL checks?
Time - Note time on entering the LFS, ensuring within booked LFA time
What is L of the SARTL checks?
Lights - Ensure strobes and forward facing lights are all ON
What checks must be completed before you arrive at the ToD and begin your descent to LL?
FIRADS - TCAS to BELOW with R
What is a good scan for turns at LL?
Lookout - In to turn and through the top of the canopy, TCAS
Attitude - Adjust as req. (HUD)
Speed - Adjust throttle as req. to maintain 240 KIAS (HUD)
G - Alter BP as req. to maintain 3g
HDG - Anticipate roll out hdg (wind)
What is the workcycle for exiting the turn?
Flightpath
Deadwing
TCAS
Then complete TSAT, correcting any speed/hdg error, and think NEXT EVENT.
