How do you clean a Biological Safety Cabinet?

A
  1. Garb and handwash in the Ante room before entering the buffer area
  2. Place the chemo-waste container inside the BSC on the mat.
  3. Spray cleaning agent or alcohol on the front lip (tray area near edge of BSC) and wipe with cloth. Discard in the container inside the BSC.
  4. Next, clean the intravenous (IV) pole and sides. Wipe with overlapping strokes, from top to bottom, downward toward the work surface. Discard in the container inside the BSC when done.
  5. Clean the work surface wfrom back to front, around the mat, moving outward with overlapping strokes
  6. Clean the inner view screen (glass front) of the BSC. Discard the cloth in waste container.
  7. Pinch the mat and place in the waste container.
  8. Remove the outer pair of gloves and discard them in the waste container.
  9. Clean the outside of the view screen. Discard cloth in the waste container.
  10. Remove the container and place it in the outer trash container marked Hazardous. Degown and place all personal protective equipment (PPE) in the same trash.
