What are the 4 types of resources?

What does abiotic mean?
resources extracted from non living things eg. sunlight.`
What does biotic mean?
resources extracted from living things eg. palm oil.
What are renewable resources?
resources which are infinite eg. wind.
What are non-renewable resources?
resources which are finite eg. coal
What provides daily survival in the Ecuadorian rainforest?
The forest and river provide daily survival.
What are impacts on the environment in Ecuador?
This causes pipelines to crack which causes waste pits to be filled up with crude oil and toxic sludge. This leads to the rivers of the Oriente. Causing damage to the ecosystem.
What do the tribes of Ecuador need water for?
Drinking, cooking, bathing and fishing. Damaged river means there are no fish to get.
What do people rely on fish for?
protein and employment.
In 1970 how much fish was caught annually in the North Sea?
300,000 tonnes.
In 2006 how much fish was caught in the North Sea?
20,000 tonnes.
How much was recovered in 2015?
70,000 tonnes.

Did people decades ago think there was enough fish for a larger generation?
Yes.
Is there enough fish for the Earth’s population?
No.
What affects does it have if there is no fish in the North Sea?
The fish’s predators will starve, and the fish’s food will grow in population.
Do fish boats just catch fish?
They often accidentally catch animals which aren’t fish. eg. seagulls.
Why do people in Cameroon cut down trees?
Because they want room to grow the oil.
