Mature
Lymph nodes
Small bean shaped organs found in armpits, neck, and groin. Remove pathogens and dead cells from lymph
Lymph vessels
Thin walled vessels that carry lymph back to lymph nodes
Bone marrow
Produces white blood cells
Spleen
Largest lymphatic organ; stores WBC & allows them 2 mature
Tonsils
Small lymphatic vessels at back of throat and tongue which contain WBCs to trap pathogens
Thymus
Organ in chest where some WBCs finish devolving
Elephantiasis or lymphatic filariasis
Caused by parasitic round warms which are transmitted by mosquitoes. Inflammation of the lymphatic vessels causing extreme enlargement of the affected area
Lymphedema
Swelling of body tissues due to blockage or injury to the lymph vessels which are unable to drain the lymph causing swelling
