Unit 7 Flashcards
When the rate of the forward reaction is greater what is made faster reactants or products
Products are made faster when the rate of the forward reaction is greater and therefore there is a net gain in the amount of products
If some product is added to the equation what happens to the rates of the forward and reverse reaction
The rate of the reverse reaction will increase because since more products were added the reactants will increase to a higher rates trying to make up for the difference until it reaches equilibrium so therefore the right of the reverse reaction will be greater than the rate of the forward reaction until equilibrium
if k is greate than 1
products favored
if k is less than 1
reactbats are favored
direction if rxn is determined by
q, k
when the equation is doubled k is
squared ^2
when the equation is rveersed/ flipped
k is inversed ^-1
when the equation is halved k is
square rooted ^1/2
when dealing with equailibroum what do you do with all the K values from the elementary steps
multiply then together
when doing ice tables w liters ither than 1
divide ubtil it makes 1 liter then plug into ice table
equilibrium
rate of forward rxn equals rate of reverse rxn
which disappears at a fast rate 2A or 1B
2A disappears twice as fast as 1 B
k«1
k is less than .001 or smaller, reaction barely proceeds
k»1
1000 or more
reaction goes to completion
if k is 5.27*10^-4
will there be more reactants or products at equilibrium
recatants becuase k«1 so the rxn barely oroceeds
