Leukopenia
A reduction in the number of leukocytes in the blood to 5000 or less
Neutropenia
An abnormal decrease in the number of neutrophils in the blood
Pancytopenia
Deficiency in all three cellular components of the blood: RBC, WBC, platelets
Petechiase
Very small, non raised, round, purplish spots, caused by intradermal or submucosal bleeding, then later turn blue or yellow.
Polycythemia
An elevation in the total number of red blood cells
Thrombocytosis
Condition in which there is an abnormally increased number of platelets in the blood
Hemochomatosis
Inherited blood disorder that causes the body to retain an excessive amount of iron
Myeloma
Cancer of the plasma cells
Thalassemia
An inherited blood disorder that causes your body to have less hemoglobin than normal
Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation
A disorder in which tissue damage causes widespread, excessive blood clotting in the microcircluation; subsequently, the body’s blood clotting factors are depleted and hemorrhage occurs.
