Modern tests
pre- attempts begaan with Franic Galton who believed it was biologically inherited
1. Began in 1900s in France sicne it was mandatory for kids to go to school
-. Alfred Binet and Theodore SImon create a test to minimize bias and help French students
- measure childs mental age
Lewis Turman Measuring Innate Intelligence
Adapted Binet test = Standforf Binet
- revealed biological intelliegnece ( intelligence from birth)
- age range was teens to superior adults
- used IQ until they relized it doesnt work with adults
William Stern
derived IQ- intelligence quotient

- Doesnt work with adults since a 40 yr old can have a 20 yr old score and then get a low IQ
- average score is 100
David Wechsler
Most widely used intelligence test
WAIS - adult intelliegence scale
WISC- school age version
- 15 subtests, produces overral intelliegence score
- verbal and performance
Principles for Constructon of test
- Standardization
- Normal curve
- Valid
Flynn effect
people IQ growing over time
- based of nutrition, sociaeconomic impacts
- to keep average you need up to date standardizaton tests
