Define Land Capability
Ability of land to be used for a certain purpose. Eg. Land Capability for Agriculture is based on soil quality, drainage, slope and climate
Define Growing Season
Period during which crops can grow. Number of days between Spring and Autumn when the average daily temperature is above 5°C (Most crops begin to grow).
Define Mechanization
Process whereby machinery takes over jobs or functions or humans or animals
Define Intense Farming
Large amounts of labour, machinery and fertilizers are used on Small Farms. The growing of fruits is an example
Define Extensive Farming
Type of farming in which Small amounts of labour, machinery and fertilizers are used in Large Farms. Yields per hectar are small. Most agricultural activities in Canada are this kind.
Define Agribuisness
Agricultural buisness, operations incluce growing seasons, storing, processing and distributing food may be owned by a large corporation, a family, or an individual
Define Vertical Integration
Situation whereby a company owns and operates every step in the process required to make the product
Define Sustainable Agriculture
Approach to agricultural production that can be maintained
Define Sustained Yeild Management
Use of a renewable resource at a rate that allows the resource to renew itself
Define Humus
Gives Nutrients and Moisture for plants. This gives soil its dark colour.

Non-renewable resources found all over the world
