Q

How to make standard solutions

A
  • Dissolve an accurately measured mass of solid in a small volume of deionised water in a beaker
  • Transfer the solution to a standard flask, rinsing the beaker carefully
  • make up the solution to the mark on the stanadard flask, using a dropper for the last few drops so that the bottom of the meniscus is touching the line on the flask.

Q

Titration

A

Titration is used to accurately determine the volume of solution to reach the end-point of a reaction.
Indiacator is used to show when the end-point has reached

Q

Titrartion involving acidified permanganate solution

A

Titrations using acidified

permanganate solution are self-indicating as purple permanganate turns colourless as the permanganate ions are reduced.
