Luke stories
- Shepherds came at Jesus’ birth, which shows God accepts all
- When Jesus was in the temple, he proclaimed that he was in his Father’s house (no attempt to hide messianic identity)
- role reversal with Zechariah & Elizabeth (shows even sinners could be saved)

- Through a barren woman, a prophet is born (Universal Salvation), compassionate God answers her prayers

Incarnation
Belief that the son of God assumed a human nature for our salvation
What was Mary’s role in the Incarnation?
Mary was to be the human mother to the Eternal word of God. Her willingness to say yes to God’s plan made our salvation possible.
What does “Theotokos” mean?
Theotokos means “Mother of God” in Greek
-This was the term given to honor Mary by the Church
