Equator
an imaginary horizontal line around the Earth separating the northern and southern hemispheres
Hemisphere
the division of the northern, southern, eastern and western halves of the Earth
Moon Phase
any appearance of the moon seen from Earth
Seasons
four different weather patterns during the year (spring, summer, autumn, winter), changing because of the Earth’s tilt on its axis revolving around the sun
Luminsity
the apparent brightness of a celestial object based on its distance
Spring Tide
the tide that occurs right after a new or full moon and is the greatest difference between high and low water
Neap Tide
a tide that occurs right after the first or third quarters of the moon and is the least difference between high and low water
Revolution
the Earth’s orbit around the sun
Rotation
the spinning of the Earth on its axis
Waxing Crescent
increasing crescent moon, one phase after the new moon
Waning Crescent
decreasing crescent moon, one phase before the new moon
First Quarter
the moon phase where we can see exactly half of the moon on the right
Full Moon
the phase where we can see the entire moon
New Moon
the phase where we cannot visibly see the moon
Waxing Gibbous
the phase where the gibbous, which is slightly bigger than a semicircle, is increasing
