wrote Common Sense, which encouraged Americans to support independence from Britain, and The Crisis, which encouraged Patriots to stay strong

as a lawyer, he defended the British in the Boston Massacre b/c of his belief in the right to a fair trial. Also helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris
Abigail “Remember the Ladies” Adams

wrote many letters to her husband John Adams, urging him and other Continental Congress members to remember the ladies when forming the country. She was an early advocate for women’s rights
