Working Memory conscious process of information
Limited capacity (7-9 pieces of info)
Brief duration: 20-30 seconds
Long Term Memory
Organizes and stores
Unlimited capacity
Thought to be permanent duration
Explicit Memory
(part of LT). With conscious recall

Episodic Memory
(part of Explicit memory) Events and experiences
Semantic
(part of Explicit memory) General knowledge and facts
Procedural
(part of Implicit memory) motor skills
Implicit Memory
(part of LT). Without conscious recall

Prospective Memory
A form of memory that involves remembering to perform a planned action or recall a planned intention at a future time
Iconic Memory
Visual sensory memory. duration lasts less than a second
Echoic Memory
Auditory sensory memory. duration lasts 3 seconds
