Unit 3, lesson 2: types of tissues Flashcards
what is a stem cell –> what dose it become / how
A stem cell is a cell with no ‘specilization’ it becomes a ‘specilized’ cell through cell differentation via mitosis
what are the four types of specilized cells and what do they look like
Muscle, epithelial, connective, nervous
Nervous tissue funtion
Brain, nerves
sensory, communication and co-ordination
Epithelial Tissue
Skin, protective linings of organs
Covers the external and internal body surfaces
Connective Tissue
bones, blood, tendons
Support, protection, insulation
Muscle Tissue (3 types, what they are, what they look like)
Skeletal muscle cells, volentary (rows of muscle with little ‘beads’ between)
Cardiac muscle cells, invoulentary - pumps the heart (‘messy jumbles’ of muscle)
Smooth muscle, invoulentary - lines walls of internal organs (smooth looking)
