Cerebrovascular
Relating to the blood supply of the brain.
Cerebrovascular accident (CVA)
Medical term for stroke

Transient ischaemic attack (TIA)
Mini-stroke, within a short period of time causing no permanent damage
Ischemic stroke
Occurs when an artery to the brain is blocked
Thrombus
Stationary blood clot along the wall of a blood vessel
Embolus
Abnormal particle (e.g. an air bubble or part of a clot) circulating in the blood
Haemorrhagic Stroke
Results from weak blood vessels that ruptures and bleeds into the surrounding brain
Intracerebral haemorrhage
Type of hemorrhagic stroke in which bleeding in deep tissues or basal ganglia
Subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH)
Bleeding into the subarachnoid, the space between the arachnoid and the pia mater
Aneurysm
Excessive localized enlargement of an artery
Atrophy
Decrease in size
Hypertrophy
Increase in size
Atherosclerosis
Build-up plaque inside the blood vessels
Blood Pressure
Systole
