What is the cerebral cortex?
The centre of conscious thought, recalls memories and alters behaviour.
What does the cerebral cortex contain?
There is localisation of brain functions: Sensory areas, motor areas, association areas.
What are association areas involved in?
Involved in language processing, personality, imagination and intelligence.
What are the two connecting halves of the brain called?
Cerebral hemispheres
What connects both sides of the brain.
Corpus callosum
What does the left cerebral hemisphere process?
Information from the right visual field and controls the right side of the body.
What does the right cerebral hemisphere process?
Information from the left visual field and controls the left side of the body.
What does the corpus callosum do?
Allows the transfer of information between both cerebral hemispheres.
