What indicates the fertile period ?
Body temperature increase by 0.5 and cervical mucus becomes thin and watery.
How can infertility be treated by stimulating ovulation.
Fertility drugs that either prevent the negative feedback effect of oestrogen on FSH secretion.

Mimic the the action of FSH on LH. Both of these can cause super ovulation.
Describe artificial insemination
If the male has a low sperm count, several semen samples are collected or a donor is used. Semen is inserted into the female reproductive tract by syringe.
Describe IVF
Eggs are fertilised outside the body.
Eggs are surgically removed.
Eggs are mixed with sperm in a culture dish.
Fertilised eggs are incubated until they have formed 8 cells then transferred to uterus.
Describe ICSI
If mature sperm are defective . The head of the sperm is drawn into a needle and inserted directly into an egg for fertilisation.

Physical, chemical.
What are some physical contraceptives.
Barriers
IUDs ( copper alters cervical mucus)

What are some chemical contraceptives.
Oral pill ( pro / oestrogen mimic negative feedback, preventing FSH, LH)
Mini pill (thickens cervical mucus)
Morning after pill ( prevent / delay ovulation, for 72-120 hours after).
