Legal controls over employment
Governments pass legislations to protect people at work. Employers often exploit groups of people.
Equal opportunities
Business have to recruit/promote people based on their skill set and characteristics not based on whether they are part of certain groups.
Gender
Females are not treated the same as men in the work place so government have passed laws that make the workplace more equal.
Race and religion
Businesses must insure they do not discriminate against different ethnic groups.
Disability
Businesses must protect disabled employees in the workplace. They must make the the workplace more friendly to disability.
Sexual preferences
Business try to not let sexual preferences get in the way of an employees career and protect people with different sexual preferences.
Age
Age discrimination can occur in a workplace but business try to stop age discrimination because it is the law.
Minimum wage
Governments around the world have created a minimum wage which is the lowest amount of money per hour that an employer can pay an employee.
