music overview
All Orangetheory studio’s must annually obtain which of the following?
Public Performance License
mic ducking
Mic ducking means that the volume of the music compresses when an
audio signal goes above a certain threshold.
This is a required feature of the MAE sound system in studio to allow for you to coach over the mic and at the same time make the music volume decrease so you can be heard. As soon as you start talking the music volume should lower, and when you’re done it should resume at the set studio volume. This also helps limit sound transfer to neighbors of OTF studios. As a Coach, you don’t have to do anything except make sure the mic is set-up as the sound system should automatically be set-up with ducking standards.
Decibel limitation
Decibel limitation is another required feature to every studio sound system that helps limit the transfer of sound to neighbors of OTF studios. It works in combination with mic ducking.
This limiter sets an average decibel level of 95 for any given song.
what is the average level of studio music
95db
Which of the following are benefits to using OTF’s approved music platform?
Members get a unified experience across all studios
Eliminates liabilities related to music licensing laws

Effort Overview
–Let the guest know that you will be using different words to describe different paces/efforts on the treadmill. Those words are:
* Walking Recovery | a full recovery walking effort at 1%
* Base | a challenging but doable effort
* Push | an uncomfortable effort
* All Out | a very uncomfortable effort
* Note: The Effort Overview is a good place to flex your experience! Feel free to be creative in describing the efforts but always remember the goal is to PREPARE, not OVERWHELM! Read your guest and deliver an appropriate amount of information
* The effort words will be the same regardless if you choose to Power Walk, Jog, or Run today, all of which are great options!

Equipment Overview
–Show the guest the equipment at and around their station. If there are unique pieces of equipment being used that day, feel free to highlight the equipment.

* Best practice: adjust one footplate for the guest, and have the guest adjust their other footplate.

* Whether the guest is familiar with rowing or not, it is important to have them row a few strokes so you can assess what you will need to Coach during the workout.

When overviewing the OTbeat, be sure to include the following:
* Names appear alphabetically on the OTbeat
* The main OTbeat Screen is for Me to use to Coach the class, you can see your performance right on your individual pieces of equipment
Coaches should always end the Fitness Orientation with the following three points:

* Return the guest to the lobby for the lobby intro
