Ulnar Tunnel Flashcards
What is the ulnar tunnel?
Fibro-osseous space located on posteromedial aspect of elbow
Transmits ulnar nerve from arm into forearm
Borders of ulnar tunnel
Oval shaped with medial and lateral walls, floor and roof
Medial wall
Medial epicondyle of humerus
Lateral wall
Olecranon of ulna
Floor
Elbow joint capsule and medial collateral ligament of elbow
Roof
Ligament spanning between medial epicondyle and olecranon
Ligament forming roof of cubital tunnel
Cubital tunnel retinaculum/arcuate ligament of Osbourne
Band of fasica which runs between ulnar and humeral heads of flexor carpi ulnaris
Contents of ulnar tunnel
Transmits ulnar nerve, a major peripheral nerve of upper limb . After passing through this space, ulnar never travels between two heads of flexor carpi ulnaris and continues into forearm and hand
