Superifcial Back Muscles Flashcards

1
Q

Where are the superficial back muscles?

A

Under skin and superficial fascia. Originate from vertebral column and attach to bones of shoulder (clavicle, scapula and humerus)

Q

Attachments of trapezius

A

Originates from skull, ligamentum nuchae and spinous processes of C7-T12
Fibres attach to clavicle, acromion and scapula spine

6
Q

Actions of trapezius

A

Upper fibres elevate scapula and rotates it during abduction of arm
Middle fibres retract scapula and lower fibres pull scapula inferiorly

8
Q

Attachments of latissimus dorsi

A

Broad origin, arises from spinous process of T6-T12, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest and inferior 3 ribs
Fibres converge into a tendon that attaches to intertubercular sulcus of humerus

16
Q

Rhomboid minor location

A

Superior to rhomboid major

17
Q

Attachment of rhomboid major

A

Originates from spinous processes of T2-T5 vertebrae.
Attaches to medial border of scapula, between scapula spine and inferior angle

18
Q

Innervation of rhomboid major

A

Dorsal scapular nerve

19
Q

Rhomboid major action

A

Retracts and rotates scapula

20
Q

Rhomboid minor attachments

A

Originates from spinous processes of C7-T1 vertebrae
Attaches to medial border of scapula at level of spine of scapula

Innervation of rhomboid minor

A

Dorsal scapular nerve

22
Q

Rhomboid minor action

A

Retracts and rotates scapula
