abdominal wall muscles
Rectus abdominus m.
External abdominal oblique m.
Internal abdominal oblique m.
Transversus abdominus m.
Psoas major m.
Iliacus m.
Quadratus lumborum m.
facia in abdomen
Rectus sheath, covering rectus abdominus and external and internal abdominal oblique connect to this and form linea alba in middle.
deepest facia is transversals fascia, deep to transversus abdominus.
Inguinal canal
passageway out of the abdomen, male spermanicord (quite large), female round ligament (very small), carry lymph, nerves, and vessels. goes though transversals facia, transversus abdominal m, internal and external abd. oblique m, and rectus sheath.
Serous membrane of abdomen
Peritoneum, parietal layer is attached to wall, visceral layer is attached to organs. GI organs are ‘intraperitoneal’ surrounded by peritoneal facia. Urogenital organs are behind the peritoneum, ‘retroperitoneal.’ There is still serous fluid between layers of peritoneum.
Specialized peritoneum
Mesentery: X2 layers of peritoneum, between are vessels, and nerves to GI tract.
fnx: suspends guts
Omentum: grater and lesser, x4 layers of peritoneum, site for fat accumulation, temperature regulation.
