What are the routes of tumour metastasis?

A
  1. Direct seeding of body cavities of surfaces- malignant neoplasms penetrate into a natural open field lacking physical barriers eg. Peritoneal cavity
  2. Lymphatic spread- most common pathway, follows route of lymphatic drainage
  3. Haematogenous spread- spread via blood vessels and usually the veins
  4. Perineural spread
  5. Iatrogenic spread
