There are people, places, and events in the Old Testament that foreshadow and point to people, places, and events in the New Testament. This is possible because the Holy Spirit is the inspiration behind the bible.

EXODUS
Israelites were enslaved by Egyptians ~

Israelites were trying to get to the Promise Land ~
~ we are enslaved by sin ~ waters of baptism save us ~ fed by the Eucharist ~ Jesus goes up a mountain to give law ~ Jesus stays with us in the tabernacle ~ we are trying to get the Heaven

Main themes found in the Old Testament:
- Sin must be destroyed or it will destroy you
- Worship of the one true God brings peace and fulfillment, but worship of false god brings destruction.
- The Bible starts with marriage and ends with marriage. We are made to enter in to the love of the Trinity.
