1 million food packs and 250,000 litres of water was distributed (social + short term)
/less diseases being spread like cholera and typhoid so there is a less of a long term impact as more people are able to work as less will be sick but what will happen when they run out/ (PROTECTION)
houses being rebuilt (socio-economic + long term)
/people may not have the money needed to pay for the changes due to living in a nee and working in the informal sector/
storm surge warning system (socio economic environmental + long term)
/contradicted by the no build zone along vulnerable coastline as it doesn’t take the fishermen into consideration as there is nothing protecting their jobs or boats/ (MONITORING + PREDICTION)
mangrove trees (environmental + long term)
trees on the coast slow flood water, some of the energy will be dissipated less likely to damage properties as the water as less energy therefore there will be less damage in the furfure meaning the government won’t have to spend a lot of money on new schemes
(PROTECTION + PLANNING)
long term responses are more effective as typhoons in the Philippines will only get worse and more frequent due to climate change so making sure you are prepared for future typhoons by making sure the same issues won’t happen again reduce deaths from minute they are put in place till the future. Short term responses provide emergency aid and reduce the deaths of 1 event rather than many.
