Criterion referenced

A

EG when assessing skill level. A cutoff test score is the criterion and those whose participate either exceed this score or do not (failers and passers)

Norm-referenced

A

Used to understand how a person compares w other people. Done by comparing test score with those of a reference sample or normative sample.

Speeded vs Power

A

Speeded;
- Time limited
- Answering as many as possible
- Score is amount answered

Power
- No time limit
- Finish whole test
- Score is number of correct answers

Reflective/effect indicators

A

Scores are caused by the construct. Eg intelligence level determines the score on an intelligence test. Responses are indicators of the construct (most used in psych)

Formative/causal indicators

A

Quantifying a socioeconomic status is best example, you do this w for example income, education etc. These indicators aren’t caused by the SES, but what define it.
