Distributions Flashcards
1
Q
Skewed
A
Amount of skew determines distributions shape. A normal distribution has a skew value of 0. An assymetrical a value below/above 0.
2
Q
Covariance
A
Variability among scores in two different distributions
3
Q
Interpreting association between variables
A
Direction and magnitude. Covar provides clear info about the direction of association, not the magnitude. Correlation on both
4
Q
Correlation
A
Shows linear asssociation between two variables. Is a number betw. -1 & +1, and it gives clear indication of the magnitude and direction of the association.
5
Q
Binary items
A
2 possible answers; eg yes/no, 0/1, false/true etc. Variance of a binary item ix max if half respond positive and half neg. (var = .5)
