Associative validity Flashcards

1
Q

Convergent evidence

A

Often comes in the form of correlations among different ways of measuring the same construct (Does the association remain if we use a different test)

Criterion, concurrent and predictive are variety of convergent validity

A

Q

Criterion validity

A

Degree to which it’s related to particularly important other variable it should correlate with.

There’s a distinction between two
- Concurrent validity; correlations at the same time
- Predictive validity; correlations at future point in time

Q

Nomological network

A

A network of associated constructs, behaviours and properties. the meaning surrounding a construct.

It’s used to know which other scales/measures to examine, and whcih pattern of convergent and discriminant associations to expect.
