types of injuries Flashcards
acute injuries?
soft tissue, can be caused by direct external or internal force
direct vs indirect
direct: getting tackled
indirect: loss of balance
chronic injuries
usually from overuse, occurs for a long period of time
overuse injuries
injuries from using overloading tissues causing inflammation
grade of muscular tears
grade 1- minimum fibres torn
grade 2- signficant amount of fibres torn
grade 3- complete tear of all fibres
Arthritis
inflamed joints, joint weakness deformed joint structure
osteoporosis
thinning bones, poor calcium, work out more to fix
rhemotoid
autoimmune, immune system attacks the lining of joints, is irreversible
osteoarthritis
weared away cartiligde, causes bone on bone rubbing
how to fix muscular illnesses
exercise, rest, calcium intake
pre part screening
used to access techniques, physical capabilities, adequate warm up
why are warm ups and cool downs and physical prep important ?
warm up: so muscles are warm and can be more flexible, prevents injury, increase heart rate
cool down: helps recovery, waste production, helps flush out latic acid, helps body reach homeostatic state
physical prep: warm up and recovery between sessions
taping?
taping: reduces joint range of motion
kinesiology: elastic and flexible, athletes use it
