sacromere arrangement Flashcards
what bands make up sarcomere
I band: Made up of actin filaments
A band: Made up of myosin and actin filaments
H band: made up of Myosin filaments
what makes up sarcomere
actin filaments, stay still, myosin filaments are moving, cross bridges are formed between these and can only happen with calcium and
how does the sarcomere work?
when muscles contract actin and myosin filaments come up to the H zone until it dissappears, calcium is needed for this
neuromuscular junction
a nerve impulse to the muscle, actin, myosin and calcium attach to each other to pull the muscle together
Intititaion of a muscle
nerve creates message
impulse goes to spinal cord to motor neurons
message goes to motor neurons
message goes to muscle fibre controlled by neuron and travels to neuromusclar juntion
fast motor
fatigue quick, contract quick
slow motor
fatigues slow, slow contractions
what affects motor units ?
joint angle, force produced
all or nothing principal
of a nerve impulse is too weak nothing will happen due to a threshold
