What is a lab experiment?
An experiment that takes place in a highly controlled environment
What is a natural experiment?
This is where the researcher takes part of an already existing IV
What is a quasi experiment?
The IV is based on an existing difference between people E.G. AGE or GENDER
What is field experiment?
The IV is manipulated in a natural setting

High control over EVs
It will be the IV affecting the DV
You can replicate it for validity
Lab exp limitations?
Hard to generalise

Low mundane realism
Low eco. val.
Field exp strengths?
High mundane realism bc natural ENV
High external val bc no DC
Field exp limitations?
Unethical- no consent
Natural exp strengths?
High external validity bc they mimic IRL situations
Can take advantage of unethical situations

Controlled- can be replicated- valid
