Describe the concept of internalisation.
Occurs when an individual fully accepts group norms.
Individual’s view persists publicly and privately.
The change is permament bc individual has internalised attitude - it becomes a part of how the person thinks.
Describe the concept of identification.
Individual sometimes conforms bc he values something about the group.
Individual identifies w/ group so wants to be a part of it.
Behaviour changes publicly, but may not agree privately.
Describe the concept of compliance.
Individual goes along w/ group, but personal view isn’t changed.
Behavioural change is public and superficial.
Behaviour stops as soon as group is absent.
