Type 1 Flashcards
Can HC refrigerants be retrofitted?

Is there a leak rate for small appliances?
No
Is a desiccant dehumidifier a Type 1 appliance?
No. It doesn’t contain any refrigerant.
What is a Type 1 appliance?
An appliance that is hermetically sealed, factory charged and contains 5 lbs. or less of refrigerant.
What can be done to speed recovery?
Recover from both the low and high side.
What will air in the system cause?
Higher discharge pressures
On low horse power systems, what can be done to prevent oil migration during recovery?
Recover from the low and high side.
What is the maximum amount of refrigerant that can be recovered with a system dependent recovery device?
15 lbs.
What is THE ONLY WAY that a vacuum pump can be used during the recovery process?
It can be used to reduce the pressure of a recovery container.
What must small appliances have in order to attach a solderless piercing valve?
A process tube.
What must be done to an access fitting (solderless piercing valve) before recovering refrigerant?
Leak tested
What should solderless self piercing valves not be left on an appliance permanently?
They tend to leak over time.
How must appliances containing HC refrigerants be marked?
The process tubes must be marked red.
