Where is the ozone layer located?
In the Stratosphere which is 7-30 miles above sea level.
What best describes Stratospheric Ozone Depletion?
A GLOBAL ISSUE which can cause crop depletion, skin cancer, cataracts and reduced marine life.
What is Ozone?
Ozone is O3 which consists of 3 oxygen atoms which protects us from the UV radiation from the sun.
What is Smog?
Ozone at ground level.
What is the Rowland-Molina Theory?
A theory that states that a single chlorine atom from CFCs and HCFCs can destroy 100,000 ozone molecules.
What is Chlorine Monoxide?
It is created when chlorine molecules from CFCs and HCFCs collide with ozone molecules.
What is the problem with chlorine being in the atmosphere?
Chlorine will NOT dissolve in water and will NOT wash out of the atmosphere with rain.
