What happened to England after Cromwell’s head was removed?
France invaded England and there was a military disaster (Mary rose sinks)
and the country was at war with scotland
What did Henry blame Cromwell for which led to his fall from power?
Henry blamed Cromwell for the failure of his marriage to Anne of Cleves and wanted him to be punished.
How was England ruled in Henry’s finals year?
Henry was too ill to work so Anthony Denny a member of the privy council and William Paget the private secretary helped rule for henry.This left England being ruled by Faction and set up an issue for King Edward.
Why was Denny in power a issue?
Denny had access to the king’s private chambers which meant that he had easy inside access to private information and Paget had control over who the king could talk to, meaning he could manipulate the information the king received.
What were the four posts were created by the reform of government under Cromwell?
Court of augmentation - control land and finances previously under control of the church
Court of general surveyors - Handled ex monastic lands before amalgamated into Court of Augmentations
Court of First fruit and tenths -Collected the money that was previously sent to Rome
Court of wards - Collected money from the estate of a minor when they inherited land
How did the Dissolution of the Monasteries take place?
Cromwell sent out commissioners to survey the value of the church and land>gave them a reason to shut the monasteries
