What did Trotsky send to factories?
Sent Bolshevik speakers around the factories, whipping up support, a “Military Revolution Committee” was set up under Trotsky and Dzerzhinsky on 16th October.
What did the Military Revolution Committee comprise of?
66 members- 48 of the Bolsheviks.
Where were Commissars sent?
All over Petrograd’s garrison units and 15 of the 18 declared their allegiance to the Soviet, rather than the Provisional Government.
What did these Commissars ensure and organise?
Ensured loyalty and issued orders and organised weapon supplies.
What did the Committee come to control?
200,000 Red Guards
60,000 Baltic sailors
150,000 soldiers
When did the Bolshevik revolution officially begin?
On 25th October 1917.
