Ying- Spring point
Water point

The point lies at the flare of the base of the proximal phalanx of the ring finger. Feel along the ulnar side of the proximal phalanx of the ring finger, to the nook where the base of the bone begins to flare out. When a loose fist is made, the point is just visible at the side of the finger. Open the fingers to mark the point.

Proximal to the 4th MCP joint, between the 4th and 5th MC bones. Starting at the knuckle, feel along the ulnar side of the 4th MC bone to a notch that lies just proximal to the flare of the head of the 4th MC bone. With the hand in a loose fist the point lies about I finger-width from the tip of the knuckle.

Yuan- Source point

Note that the channel crosses from the ulnar side of the extensor digitorum
(TB 4) to the radial side (TB 5, 6), to ulnar (TB 7), to radial (TB 8) and finally to the ulnar side (TB 9).

YANGCHI: Yang Pond
At the flexure of the wrist between the carpal bones and the ulna.
Trace along the 4th MC bone and feel for a slight depression, just proximal to the end of the 4th MC. Continue along this line passing over the carpal bone and drop into another depression.
You are now between the carpal bones and the ulna. The depression lies between two tendons, one of which pulls up the three central fingers, and the other the little finger (the extensor digitorum and the extensor digiti minimi manus).
Ask the patient to move their hand up and down, to display the flexure of the wrist and the two tendons.

Mark 12 cun from TB 4 - LI II.

Note that the channel crosses from the ulnar side of the extensor digitorum
(TB 4) to the radial side (TB 5, 6), to ulnar (TB 7), to radial (TB 8) and finally to the ulnar side (TB 9).

WAIGUAN : Outer Gate
2 cun proximal to TB 4, on the mid-line between the radius and the ulna. The point lies between the muscle that pulls up the central three fingers (the extensor digitorum) and the muscle that pulls up the thumb (the extensor pollicis longus).

Note that the channel crosses from the ulnar side of the extensor digitorum
(TB 4) to the radial side (TB 5, 6), to ulnar (TB 7), to radial (TB 8) and finally to the ulnar side (TB 9).

HUIZONG: Assembly of the Ancestors
3 cun proximal to TB 4 roughly one finger-width ulnar to
TB 6, at the radial border of the ulna bone. Here the channel has crossed over to the ulnar side of the extensor digitorum.
This muscle varies considerable in width depending on the development of the forearm. Resist extension of the middle three fingers to highlight it.

Note that the channel crosses from the ulnar side of the extensor digitorum
(TB 4) to the radial side (TB 5, 6), to ulnar (TB 7), to radial (TB 8) and finally to the ulnar side (TB 9).

7 cun proximal to TB 4, between the radius and the ulna, and between the muscle mentioned above (extensor digitorum), and the muscle that raises the ulnar side of the wrist (extensor carpi ulnaris). To identify the seam in the muscle alternate resisting the raising of the middle fingers and everting the ulnar side of the hand, so that a wrist movement that starts with the hand pronated ends with the little finger uppermost. The point lies lateral to the mid-line of the forearm.

TIANJING: Heavenly Well
The point lies approximately I cun proximal to the tip of the olecranon. Bend the patient’s arm across his chest and find the hollow at the top edge of the olecranon bone and the lower end of the humerus, in a depression in the tendon of the triceps muscle. The point is approximately I cun proximal to the tip of the olecranon.
