Posttraumatic Stress
A. Exposure to death/injury/sexual violence to you/someone close/whitness.
B. Presence of intrusion symptoms bc of trauma;
- recurrent distressing memories
- recurrent distressing dreams
- dissociative reactions (flashbakcs)
- intense prolonged psych distress at exposure to similar aspect
- physiological reactions
C. persistent avoidence of ass stimuli, memories or external riminders
D. Negative alterations in mood, inabilkity to remember important aspect or persistant negative beliefs about oneself/the world.
E. Altered behavior, like reclessness/angry/hypervigilance/exaggerated startle/concentration problems.
F. More than 1 month
Acute Stress
A. Exposure to same as ptsd
B. Presence of 9 or more symptoms from catagories; intrusion, negative mood, dissociation, avoidance and arousal
C. duration is 3 days to 1 month. If more = PTSD
Adjustment
A. Emotional or behavioral symptoms in response to identifiable stressor (eg divorce, painful illness etc.), within 3 mnts after stressor
B. clinically sign: distress out of proportion or impairment in important areas of func.
C. Doesn’t meet crit for any other mental disorder.
